Collections of writings in the form of a volume of learned articles or essays by colleagues, students, and admirers to honor a scholar, other person, institution, or society on a special occasion or anniversary. Festschriften are usually complimentary or memorial publications in the form of collected essays, addresses, or biographical, bibliographical, scientific, or other contributions, often embodying the results of research.
