Descripción
Folk instruments from the Appalachian region of the United States, usually consisting of a long figure-eight shaped box, a fretted fingerboard set centrally along its entire length, and from three to five metal strings tensioned by lateral pegs. For the American chordophones of similar construction, but struck with hammers instead of plucked, use "hammer dulcimers."
