Descripción
Japanese transverse flutes used in court music and some folk dances, made from a single tube of bamboo. They resemble the "nokan" in having seven equidistant fingerholes, a balancing weight in the upper end, a red-lacquered bore, and a wrapping of bark or twine, but are distinct in having a patch of ornament embroidered on a red ground on the upper end and in lacking the nokan's characteristic tube inserted into the bore between the mouth hole and nearest fingerhole.
