Descripción
Curtains that hang in front of or behind the doors of the Torah ark in a synagogue, often richly embroidered. They are based on the curtains in the ancient Jewish temple, which were used to conceal the Holy of Holies from the people; no one was permitted to enter the area except the high priest once per year on the Day of Atonement.
