Descripción
Refers to any piece of dining room furniture having compartments or shelves for holding articles of table service below a surface for serving or preparing food. The term has been in use since the 16th century. Its usage often overlaps with "sideboards," although buffets tend to be large enough to hold platters and serving dishes, and may have relatively tall legs, very short legs, or a solid base.
