Descripción
Refers to screens consisting of one panel, typically made of wood with low legs. The single-panel screen is generally the smallest of the three types of screens in East Asia. Single-panel screens in China were set in stands and were usually of lacquer; the panels often framed a painted picture, jade panel, or looking glass. In Japan such screens were stationery and used at the entrance of a house to denote status or a ceremony in progress.
