Solar power plants

Facilities that harness and distribute energy derived from the sun's radiation by producing heat, causing chemical reactions, or generating electricity in any of several methods, including but not limited to the following: by the using direct solar radiation to heat air, water, or another carrier fluid; by using arrays of lenses or mirrors as solar collectors to concentrate sunlight to produce high temperatures in a solar furnace; or by using solar cells (photovoltaic cells) to convert solar radiation into electricity when a small electric voltage is generated in the solar cell as light strikes the junction between a metal and a semiconductor (such as silicon) or the junction between two different semiconductors.
