Sheet metal seams having a bottom plate with a turned edge that is inserted inside the side plate; the seam may be secured by welding, soldering, or riveting at the overlapping joint. For bottom seams having the bottom plate with a turned edge that overlaps the side plate rather than being inserted inside it, use "lap bottom seams."
