Descripción

A nitrogen-rich, combustible, sludge-like black sedimentary deposit that occurs as a result of the decomposition of microorganisms in anaerobic conditions on the bottoms of lakes and seas. Compressed into hard rock, sapropel becomes oil shale or sapropelic coal.
