Beckerite

Variety of fossil resin, brown in color, having a high oxygen content. It is found in deposits in the Baltic and is characterized by being dense and polishing poorly. It had previously been classified as being mineralogically distinct from common Baltic succinite on the basis of physical properties such as density and chemical properties such as saponification number, although more recent testing has found this to be untrue.
