Descripción
A light brown or buff-colored dolostone that is well-cemented, free of jointing, and ideally suited for building purposes. It is often used as a building stone in Toronto, Canada as it is quarried in southern Ontario; Queenston limestone caps the Niagara Escarpment. Before a quarry operation was begun at Queenston in about 1840, Scottish settlers exploited the limestone beds for building materials; the present quarry is one of the oldest in Canada.
