Descripción

Naturally occurring mineral composed of barium carbonate usually found in hydrothermal veins associated with barite. It is mined in Germany, England, Scotland, Canada (Ontario) and the U.S. (Illinois, California, Arizona). Witherite is used in case-hardening steel and in refining sugar. It is also used as a pigment in the manufacture of paints, glazes, and synthetic marble.
