Descripción
Generally, small panels or tablets with images or text, especially miniatures painted on small wooden panels or images or ancient texts carved or engraved on stone or metal panels. Specifically, may refer to small panels with miniatures and used as book covers in the Middle Ages and Renaissance, or small panels depicting the Passion of Christ or images of saints that were shown to condemned men for contemplation prior to their execution in Renaissance Italy.
