Descripción
Wood of the species Castanea sativa, native to southwestern Europe, North Africa, and Asia Minor. The heartwood is yellowish-brown in color, closely resembling oak but lacking its silver grain characteristics. It is used in the making of furniture, coffin boards, turnery, and fence poles.
